Attorney – Britton D. Monts

Britton Monts, AV rated and recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer in 2005 and 2006, has been practicing law for 25 years.  He has successfully tried and handled cases all over the State of Texas and the United States against some of the largest companies in the nation.

He has extensive experience handling many types of complex lawsuits, including employment and oil and gas cases.  He has filed and successfully resolved several national class action lawsuits, most involving consumer abuse, and also has tried and settled many death/serious personal injury and employment cases.  As part of his commitment to individual rights he has represented victims of SLAPP suits (strategic lawsuits against public participation) to protect First Amendment liberties.  He and a colleague tried and successfully settled a landmark case on behalf of a large Hispanic family in South Texas recovering land and money stemming from fraud dating back to the 1940s.  It is believed to be the first and only successful lawsuit of its kind.  His cases over the years have been varied and many have involved difficult and novel issues.  Recently Britton has expanded his practice to represent citizens in cases involving false claims and false tax claims by corporations against the Federal Government and state governments.

He is licensed to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court; the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth, Ninth and Tenth Circuits; the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas; all state courts in Texas; and has been admitted to practice pro hac vice in courts in New York, California, Kentucky, New Mexico and Oklahoma..

He is a member of the American Association of Justice, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, Taxpayers Against Fraud, The State Bar of Texas and the Austin Bar Association.

Britton received his undergraduate degree from Abilene Christian University in 1980 graduating with high honors, and his law degree from SMU in 1984 where he was a member of the Journal of Air Law and Commerce and published two articles on aviation law.  In 1988 he was selected the Outstanding Young Lawyer of Midland County in connection with his efforts in establishing a pro bono legal clinic for the poor in that community.   

Attorney – Heather E. Bridgers

Heather Bridgers has extensive experience in complex litigation involving real estate disputes, financial services, and construction claims, shareholder disputes, medical malpractice, as well as general litigation in both state and federal court. Heather’s real estate litigation practice includes representing property owners on property rights issues including but not limited to disputes concerning contracts, titles, boundaries, easements, eminent domain and lease disputes. She has represented major commercial landlords, and tenants in disputes involving lease defaults, evictions, fixtures, and equipment, CAM, use restrictions, lien claims as well as premises liability matters.

She also has handled lawsuits involving lender liability, breach of fiduciary duty, non-compete and restrictive covenants, and fraudulent checking transactions. In the construction area, Heather has been involved in numerous disputes, including assisting in the representation of a $50 million construction contractor in winding down its affairs with lenders, landlords, subcontractors and suppliers.

She is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the North Carolina Bar Association. She is a member of Taxpayers Against Fraud and the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

Heather earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida. She earned her law degree, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University. While in law school, Heather served on the SMU International Law Review and as a moot court chief justice. She also enjoyed an externship with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
